Camino Portuguese 2023

An absolutely magnificent start to todays walk.
Out of the albergue as the sun was coming up. Right hand turn into the woodlands.

This start has to one of the most lovely, peaceful days walk as you walk along the Rita da Pedro e da agua (route of stone and water). There is a small stream that runs along side you, interrupted frequently by small water driven mills, unfortunately all appear in disrepair.

We enjoyed a coffee at a very strange kiosk just by the path.
The lovely host then surprised us with a plate of tortilla, empanada and sweet cake, each. Delicious.. and then came toast with fresh tomato and olive oil and then came fresh tomatoes with olive oil.
We were not expected to pay for any of it, must have looked hungry.

On leaving this pleasant path the hard work begins with a couple of climbs, not high but a nuisance after the gentle downhill. It is alsoSunday (apparently) so it seems very quiet, with many places closed. The appearance of the ocean is a welcome sight, however there remains several kms to walk with throbbing feet to our place for tonight.

We have to wait till the late time of 8pm before any restaurants are open, any thought of self catering is destroyed by the lack of open “super mercado”.

So we will eat and then we will sleep.
Today was a big/long day.
